The Garden House is a carefully renovated 1870s planter’s house which has won awards for its design. It provides welcoming retreat which is luxurious yet informal. The emphasis is on relaxation with discrete but attentive service.

The Garden House features four ensuite double rooms and a separate self-contained Garden Cottage, all designed to combine style with comfort. The balconies and private terraces offer panoramic views of the surrounding paddy fields.

Each room is furnished with a mixture of antique and modern items, and has king sized, four poster beds with cooling overhead fans. The floors are in cool, polished cement or are made from original Sri Lankan Jackwood boards and the high vaulted ceilings give a wonderful sense of space and light.

Upstairs the villa has a Master Bedroom and two further double rooms. All three upstairs rooms have four-poster beds draped with mosquito nets and cooling ceiling fans. The fourth double room, situated on the ground floor, is air conditioned.

The Cottage in the garden is a self-contained studio apartment  accommodating a further two guests which can be rented in addition to the main house.

Outside is a lush one and a half acre tropical garden with a large infinity pool overlooking vibrant green paddy fields.  There are sun loungers around the pool and a hammock for lazy afternoons.

The Garden House is ideal for a family get together, a group of friends or any special events.  It is also excellent for families with small children who love running around and playing safely in the beautiful garden.

Whatever the occasion, everything can be customised to make your stay perfect by the experienced, English speaking host/housekeeper, cook and outdoor staff.  Whether you require special diets or would like a relaxing Ayurvedic massage, the staff will attend to your every need.

Meals and drinks can be taken in the shade of the large, south facing veranda overlooking the gardens and paddy fields. Locally caught seafood complimented by tropical fruits and vegetables are the staple ingredients of delicious and imaginative menus that change daily. Alternatively for whole-villa bookings guests are welcome to ask chef to prepare meals to order.

For indoor pursuits The Garden House is equipped with everything you’d expect to enhance your stay including WiFi, cable TV and a library of books and DVDs.  The villa also has a generator to keep everything running during power outages.
