Koggala House is a recently built villa on the banks of tranquil Koggala Lake, close to the Galle Fort heritage site on the southern coast of Sri Lanka. It has been built in the old Dutch-colonial style with a contemporary touch.

Comprising a central living area and four bedrooms, constructed as connected but separate buildings. It can be rented as a “whole villa” sleeping eight or as stand-alone double rooms. The large swimming pool also has a shallow “wallowing” pool. The permanent staff include an internationally experienced chef, housekeeper, gardener and security guard.

Breakfast is included. Lunch and dinner are available from the a-la-carte menu on request. Laundry services are also available on request.

Koggala House is situated in a quiet and peaceful rural area surrounded by rice paddies, cinnamon plantations and coconut trees but is only a ten minute drive to the beach in a local tuk-tuk or taxi. The garden abounds in local wildlife including the endangered purple-faced leaf monkey and blue peacocks.

Wi-Fi is available throughout the property and there is satellite TV in the living room for those who need to keep up with world affairs, watch the latest sporting fixture or simply sit and be entertained.

The nearest beach is Kabalana, a wide stretch of beautiful clean white sand famous for its surfing and safe swimming. The famous Sri Lankan stick fishermen are nearby.

Yoga classes, massage services and Ayurvedic medicine can be arranged in-house or in a neighbouring property.

Koggala House has four bedrooms that are connected to the central living area by open covered walkways or garden paths. The rooms are bright and breezy and are designed to give a completely private space in which to relax and unwind surrounded by tropical gardens full of wildlife. The ocean is nearby and can be heard on the frequent still nights.

What makes this villa special?


Koggala House sleeps up to eight adults in four separate but interconnected air-conditioned bedroom villas each with a large double bed and en-suite.

Each bedroom comes furnished with a king size four-poster bed and equipped with mosquito net and overhead fan, air-conditioning, en-suite bathroom, walk-in wardrobe, indoor soft seating, outdoor casual seating, computer table, tea & coffee making facilities, mini-fridge and a wall safe.

Bedroom 1 also includes a satellite TV and a spacious, private walled garden with outdoor shower.

Bedrooms 3 and 4 include an additional bathtub and a sofa bed.

A baby cot and high chair are available upon request.

Located on the shores of the expansive Koggala Lake, the villa is 10 minutes inland from the beaches at Kabalana and Ahangama and a 40 minute drive from Galle.

Close to the highway it is easy to get to Koggala House from the international airport by air-conditioned taxi or by seaplane directly onto the lake. Tours can be arranged to see the blue whales at Mirissa, safaris to various national parks or a cultural trip through tea plantations to the religious sites in the north.
